We are sometimes asked, “What does ‘Zoex’ mean?”

“Zoe” is the ancient Greek root of the word “life.” The conjunction, “Zoex,” goes to our corporate philosophy and mission: to ensure our technology contributes to quality of life on our planet.

In 1994, Zoex was the first company to commercially introduce GCxGC. At that time, Zoex technology held the world record for number of chemicals separated in one hour. Our technology has held that record ever since. Today our systems are recognized throughout the world as premier technology for separating chemicals at laboratory scale.

Why separate chemicals?

To protect ourselves and our world. We simply must know what’s in the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the fuels we burn, the perfumes we apply, the flavors we enjoy, the medicines we take, etc.

Our lives – and the quality of our lives – depend on “worlds” around us, on us, and within us. These “worlds” consist of exceedingly complex chemical mixtures. In order to protect these worlds and our relations to them, we must understand their chemistry. For that reason the science of chemical separations is fundamental to human safety and comfort.
